I think the Art Classic Committee volunteers deserve an enormous
thank you! What a fabulous event! Patrons, guests, members, everyone
was talking about how impressive it was. Congratulations to all the winners.
The artwork was exciting, the food was delicious, the entertainment
lovely and the atmosphere electric! The committee outdid themselves
and should feel very proud. Our two chairs Zony Gordon and Shirley
Checkos worked very hard as did everyone. I know we had a nice big
committee but I feel it important to list them here. Thank you to:
Evie Cook, Peggy Patti, Diane Bruckner, Dianne Foderaro, Cheri &
Howard Marcovitch, Jackie Nichols, Jackie Sofen, Jackie Cleveland,
Jane Dietz, Romeo Downer, Jane Mick, Gerda Maxey, Sue & Robert
Petrovit, Yolanda Menchaca, Jaylene Armstrong, Janet Recchia, Olga
Kaczmar, Bob Hernandez, Corinne Sessarego, Barbara Ralston, Dale &
Pat Thayer, Lisa Barr, Lisa Schindewolf, Janine Ayers, Patricia
O’Hearn, Sharon Bradley. If I missed your name, I am truly, truly
sorry!
The SCAA has grown enormously and is now connected to so many other
organizations. We are truly keeping our mission statement alive:
“Making Visual Art Visible”. And because the association is so
active now it brings me to the next subject.
Last month I wrote regarding nominations for upcoming elections to
the board. I’m hoping current board members will choose to stay on,
either in the same capacity or a new one. I will continue with
several of the jobs I do, but I will not be running for president
again. I will gladly guide anyone wishing to be president.
Many of you already know that I work fulltime as a talent agent,
plus have a family of five. When I agreed to be president last year,
I was only working part-time out of my home. That has not been the
case since May of this year. My work load has quadrupled and I can
only work from home a few days a week. I love being a part of the
SCAA and I will continue to do so, just in a smaller capacity. I’ve
always tried to do more than my best to serve the needs of our
members and the organization. I have enjoyed all the friendships I
have made and hope they will endure. Thank you to the board members,
chair persons, volunteers and every single member for a great year.
