Flowing organic movement contrasted with structured elements, the
beauty of nature, and the universe continue to be driving forces in Idelle Okman Tyzbir’s paintings and sculptures. Many of her sculptures
embody the fragility of life, it’s complexity and the strength needed to
persevere. The visualization of music is a strong component in many of
her works.
Idelle uses a variety of metals, glass, acrylic paint and other
materials to enhance meaning and depth in her sculptures. Textures are
integral to the messages being conveyed. Idelle primarily uses colorful
acrylic paint as the medium of choice for her paintings. Although
gouache and watercolor occasionally make an appearance. Welding
processes are utilized in the creation of her metal sculptures. Her
twisting journey through life will continue to be reflected in her body
of work.
Idelle is academically trained in art and design, though she continues
to be primarily self taught. This has allowed her the independence and
freedom to develop her own style. She continues to push her limits,
periodically studying with a variety of accomplished artists and
craftsmen.
Although Idelle had spent approximately 20 years in a large corporation,
art has always been part of her life. She first began to emerge as a
serious artist in 1993. Sharing her artistic talents, Idelle teaches
elementary school art and metal sculpturing at College of the Canyons, (COC).
She also teaches fine art with the ‘Los Angeles Education Through the
Arts’, summer program, and art welding at the COC Junior High Summer
Institute. Making art accessible and a part of people’s lives is one of
Idelle’s greatest passions. To see more of Idelle's art please visit: www.idelleart.com
