Sandy Fisher - sfisher3@socal.rr.com

As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign graphics for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age.  My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macramé, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current endeavor of painting with watercolor and oil.

I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to "see" beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter. Through my many travels, I am provided with a bounty of unique environments and compositions.  I try endlessly to notice the fascinating scenes and overlooked details that exist on our planet; sometimes in my very own backyard. It is my desire and objective that with a fresh perspective, and the use of dramatic natural lighting, my images will draw the viewer in to take a deeper more intimate look.  I also hope that viewers will become refreshed, renewed and as filled with a sense of wonderment as I am by the splendor and majesty of nature.

Although primarily a self taught photographer and artist, I have taken courses in fine art and 2-D design at College of the Canyons along with studying under the tutelage of local artists, including watercolor artist Pong Apinyavat.  In 2005 I was awarded an honorable mention for my oil painting titled “Mediterranean Memories”.   In 2007, I was awarded a gold medal in photography at the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association’s (SCAA) Annual Art Classic, which was preceded by a silver medal in 2006.  Additionally, I am a passionate advocate for furthering visual art in Santa Clarita and served as President of the SCAA for two years. I presently serve on an art steering committee for Providence Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, California.
